New Diagnostic Codes for DSM-IV-TR - Effective October 1, 2008
Why the Changes?
To meet HIPAA requirements for diagnostic code submissions to Medicare, Medicaid, and other insurance programs, all of the diagnostic codes included in the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition, Text Revision (DSM-IV-TR) are taken from the International Classification of Diseases, 9th Edition, Clinical Modification (ICD-9-CM), which is updated yearly.
What Are the Changes?
New codes have been assigned for the following conditions listed in the DSM-IV-TR, effective October 1, 2008:
046.1 Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease is now 046.19 Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease
346.20 Headache, cluster is now 339.00 Headache, cluster
695.1 Erythema multiforme is now 695.10 Erythema multiforme
V62.2 Occupational problem is now V62.29 Occupational Problem
