Biographical Sketch:

Dr. Zucker is Psychologist-in-Chief at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH) and is the Head of the Gender Identity Service in the Child, Youth, and Family Program at CAMH. He is a Professor in the Departments of Psychiatry and Psychology at the University of Toronto and holds cross-appointments at the Hospital for Sick Children, the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education of the University of Toronto, and York University. He has been the Editor of Archives of Sexual Behavior since 2002 and is a Past President of the International Academy of Sex Research. Dr. Zucker’s research interests pertain to the development of psychosexual differentiation and its disorders. He has conducted a variety of studies pertaining to gender identity disorder in children, including diagnosis and assessment, cross-national comparative studies, associated psychopathology, tests of etiological hypotheses, and long-term follow-up. He also conducts research in the area of disorders of sex development (physical intersex conditions).

Dr. Zucker received his B.A. from Southern Illinois University, his M.A. from Roosevelt University, and his Ph.D. from the University of Toronto. He is a registered clinical psychologist with the College of Psychologists of Ontario. He is currently on the Editorial Board of four peer-reviewed journals and has served as an ad hoc reviewer for over four dozen journals. He was a member of the Gender Identity Disorders subcommittee for DSM-III-R and DSM-IV and served as the text editor for the section on Gender Identity Disorders for DSM-IV-TR.
