Biographical Sketch:
Dr. Peele brings to the task force an invaluable perspective drawn from extensive clinical experience in the public mental health service sector. Previously held positions have included Acting Superintendent of Washington, D.C.’s Saint Elizabeths Hospital, director of the city’s Area D Community Mental Health Center, and medical director of the Northern Virginia Mental Health Institute. He currently is the Chief Psychiatrist, Behavioral Health and Crisis Services, Montgomery County and holds clinical faculty positions at the George Washington University Medical School, Howard University Medical School, and the Saint Elizabeths Residency Program. He has held elected positions within the APA for three of his four decades of involvement with the organization, and has participated in developing/updating three previous editions of the DSM.
