APA Women Internet List
The Office of Career Development and Women's Programs and the APA Committee on Women invites you to join APAWOMEN, its electronic mailing list. The APAWOMEN list is dedicated to the discussion of issues involving women in psychiatry.
We believe a member to member electronic forum offers unique possibilities to assist in creating an atmosphere of cooperation, mentoring, and support in a field where women are still a minority. It also enhances the ability of the APA Office of Career Development and Women's Programs to communicate with women members.
Examples of the kinds of postings appearing on APAWOMEN:
- Discussion of issues involving women in psychiatry
- Announcement of government or privately sponsored programs designed to aid in establishing the careers of women doctors
- Items of interest from sister organizations (AWP, AMWA, AAMC, SWHR, etc.)
- Postings of job openings
- News about women in psychiatry/women's mental health
- On-line mentorship
- Information on women's events at APA meetings (postings on informal and planned dinners, receptions, sessions; help for those seeking roommates)
