Demographics

Most (84 percent) of the physicians were Caucasian, 8 percent Asian, 5 percent Black, the remainder other. Only 1 percent wer under 30 years old; 21 percent were between 30 and 40, 29 percent between 40 and 50, 29 percent between 50 and 60, and 21 percent over 60. In birth order, 3 percent were only children, 44 percent oldest, 43 percent other. By specialty, 26 percent were in pediatrics, 23 percent in psychiatry, 19 percent in internal medicine, 14 percent in public health, 9 percent in pathology, 8 percent in pediatrics and public health and 1 percent in other combinations of the five specialties.
