APIRE HIV Steering Committee
APIRE HIV Steering Committee--APIRE HIV Steering Committee--The AIDS Education Project, funded, in part, through the Center for Mental Health Services, began in 1986 and to date has trained over 30,000 health care professionals on the mental health challenges posed by HIV infection and AIDS. The project continues to coordinate training and educational activities for psychiatrists, psychiatric residents, and medical students; develop curricular materials; and link practitioners with HIV-related resources and professional support. The project is guided by the APIRE (a subsidiary of APA) HIV Steering Committee. Marshall Forstein, M.D., chairs the steering committee. In addition to the members listed above, the Steering Committee also includes Francine Cournos, M.D., Pamela Collins, M.D., Stephen J. Ferrando, M.D., Karl Goodkin, M.D., PhD., Warren Liang, M.D., and Jordi Blanch, M.D.
