2011 APA Annual Report: Integrated Care

This annual report highlights the events, initiatives, and accomplishments of the
American Psychiatric Association during 2011. The report’s theme of “Integrated Care”
is reflected in the APA’s work to integrate psychiatry with the rest of medicine;
combining education, teaching, and the latest research findings with clinical work;
and integrating the stages of a patient’s treatment into a coherent, progressive plan.
Throughout 2011, the dedicated staff of the APA combined its efforts with leaders
from the medical, government, advocacy, academic, and foundation sectors to
support its membership and enhance the integration of psychiatry with the rest of
medicine – providing more cost-effective and better care for patients.
