NEW! How to Survive the Meeting Online Orientation!
APA has planned a full schedule of events for residents so they can meet and socialize with one another, ask questions, share information, and learn more about their chosen profession. Please note your registration fee for the Annual Meeting includes admission (on a first-come, first-served basis) to all scientific sessions (i.e., symposia, workshops, lectures, forums, etc.) and other events like product theaters and industry-supported symposium, except for courses. For courses, you must enroll and pay the additional fee.
The APA offers a Clearinghouse of Vacant Psychiatry Residency & Fellowship positions for training directors looking to fill their vacant spots and for residents looking for positions.
These are resources that the APA developed to help you in your training. Resources such as advocacy and HIV training, resident safety, professionalism in residency, balance work and family life, and many more.
Preparing for Your Boards
The APA and the American Psychiatric Publishing have products that could help prepare you for your upcoming Boards - such as FOCUS Patient Management Exercises in Psychiatry, FOCUS Psychiatry Review, etc.
Subspecialty Training and Career Planning
Do you want to pursue subspecialty fellowship? How about research training opportunities? The APA has resources that can help you start your own private practice, etc.
Membership
Members-in-Training (MITs) are automatically advanced to General Member (GM) status upon completion of psychiatry residency training. APA requires that members verify they meet the General Membership requirements by completing the GM Verification Form. If an MIT is continuing training in a fellowship program, the information must be reported to APA on the GM Verification Form or by email (membership@psych.org) so the member’s status can be changed back to MIT.
