Aetna Claims Class Action Suit: Settlement Agreement Terminated

Mon June 02, 2014

UPDATE:  Under the terms of the Aetna Settlement Agreement,  Aetna terminated the Settlement.  The Court cancelled the Final Settlement Hearing that had been scheduled for March 18, 2014. For complete information, go to http://aetnaucrsettlement.com/.  On December 28, 2013, a preliminary approval was given to a  $120 million settlement from Aetna in response to a lawsuit that accused the insurer of underpaying  for care from out- of- network providers. The suit claimed that by depending on inaccurate  Ingenix databases for determining usual and customary fees, Aetna undervalued services and therefore is responsible for under-reimbursing its enrollees and, in some cases, their out of network providers from March 1, 2001 through August 13, 2013.  If you or your patients choose to join the class, you give up your right to sue Aetna individually for any out-of-network under-reimbursement
