APA Submits Comments on Proposed Rule for 2013 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule
Tue September 04,
(Arlington, VA) - The APA commends CMS for the efforts it has undertaken to ensure the availability of more quality measures that are specifically relevant and applicable to the specialty of psychiatry as well as work CMS has done to better align its multiple quality reporting incentive payment programs. Numerous APA members have cited their lack of participation in these programs as being a consequence of burdensome reporting requirements.
We believe the efforts CMS has taken in this proposed rule to reduce the number of overlapping measures on which physicians must report to either receive a payment incentive or avoid a payment penalty will encourage more physicians, including some of our members, to participate in quality reporting programs like the Medicare Shared Savings Program (MSSP), the eRx Incentive Program, the Electronic Health Records Incentive Program (EHRIP), and the Physician Quality Reporting Systems Program (PQRS).
